It’s no surprise that Aussies like to travel…and we’re no exception. We’ve lived in other countries, Daniela in Italy and semi-permenently in Germany whilst Niran has lived in five countries, including his birthplace Sri Lanka, finally ending up at home here in Australia.
But don’t mistake this international heritage for people who fly over Australia to get to other parts of the world. Of course, we’ve had many marvellous trips overseas but we’ve also been lucky enough to wander through many parts of Australia…and there’s something about the colours and sheer vastness of the spaces that brings us back, time and again, to road trips in Australia.
What you’ll also realise about us is that we don’t do glamorous… unless it comes to food…then all bets are off and we can eat in the finest Michelin restaurants with the best of them. Niran, in particular, has a life-long love affair with his stomach and will often book the restaurant almost before we’ve sorted out the itinerary! Much to Daniela’s frustration as she is usually the one doing the painstaking work of planning the trip! And you’ll also see that we don’t exactly rough it…camping is ok but a nice shower is one our pre-requisites for a good time.
So why are we doing this? Well we now have a little more time on our hands, and it’d be nice to share our experiences with others and hopefully also learn from theirs. It’s also an excuse to travel more and enjoy some great time together as nothing lifts our spirits more than thinking about, planning, going on and preserving the memory of our travels.
